Camp Counselor

Position Summary: Organize and implement unit program activities. Implement safety standards, procedures, policies for the health and safety of campers and to exhibit good role model behavior with campers.
Camp dates: June 3, 2018 - August 12, 2018
Please note camp will not be in session: July 4-7, 2018 and varying Saturdays
A weekly salary of: $ 300.00 plus room and board
Major Accountabilities:
Supervise campers' participation in structured and unstructured activities.
Be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of campers.
Know each girl in the unit, helping her to learn to respect the rights of others and understand and appreciate herself and others.
Guide and implement program activities through girl/counselor planning and by creating lesson plans each week that reflect the session's theme.
Implement various evening and overnight programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Help campers follow directions and rules.
Make sure campers have appropriate activity attire prior to leaving camp.
Maintain and assure appropriate adult to girl ratios with group (2 adults to 12 brownies, 16 juniors, 20 cadettes, 24 seniors plus 1 adult to each additional 6 brownies, 8 juniors, 10 cadettes, 12 seniors).
Teach skills necessary to help the camper live comfortably in the camp setting and promote a sense of responsibility toward preservation of natural resources.
Supervise and assist with unit cleaning, sanitation and care of supplies and equipment.
Help each girl learn to respect the rights of others, and appreciate herself and others.
Ensure implementation of Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Assist in the opening and closing of camp.
Keep records, create reports, and return completed paperwork on time.
Potential to accompany girls on horse and/or adventure trips.
Implement emergency procedures, through regular practice drills.
Assist in general daily cleaning of camp and residential areas.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Camp Director.
Experience and Skills:
Position Requirements:
At least 18 years of age.
Experience in teaching, guiding and working with children.
Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours.
Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
