Position Summary This seasonal full-time position is needed at Camp Alice Chester in East Troy, WI from May 2023 through August 2023.
Be an active participant in campers' experience and our camp community.
Sustain safety standards and wellbeing while supporting food service for campers and program staff.
This position has the option of being a commuter or in-residence summer staff position.
Compensation $470/week What You'll Do Maintain records of water and refrigerator temperatures during use.
Assist in the opening and closing of the kitchen and camp.
Assist with pack-outs and themed meals.
Teach skills necessary to help the camper live comfortable in the camp setting and promote a sense of responsibility toward preservation of natural resources.
Engage in learning to build skills towards respectfully interacting with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
Supervise campers' participation in structured and unstructured activities.
Prepare dining hall and assist campers in dining set up.
Assist cooks in serving food at meals.
Assist in opening and closing of camp.
Clean kitchen and dining hall after meals including dishes, sweeping, mopping, and operating dishwasher.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
At least 18 years of age.
Desire to work in a camp kitchen.
Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout Program and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a nominal membership fee annually.
Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with some irregular hours.
Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors including with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
These Skills Are a Plus Experience and/or training in restaurant, kitchen, or housekeeping environment.
